I agree 100% on the butt sensor, if fact I feel it’s dangerous. Send an alarm/hear or something, but don’t interfere with the mechanics. That is very dangerous and could cause injur.
I think VW designed it that way because they believe that the driver getting out of their seat when the car is in gear is a very dangerous situation and could cause injury.

Exactly - it’s a safety measure, and it’s been discussed ad nauseam in older threads on here somewhere… Basically, after that Russian actor from Star Trek died in his driveway when his Chrysler rolled down the hill, all the companies have been concerned with rollaway incidents. That gets to be more of a concern with electric cars that don’t have engine noise, so they made sure you can’t get out of the car without it going into Park. As long as you wear your seatbelt, it’s a non-issue, because you can lift up and look around with your seatbelt on all day long… but don’t be one of those folks who take their seatbelts off to backup! You won’t go anywhere…

As far as I know the seat sensor only turns the car off if the driver’s seatbelt is unbuckled. As long as you’re buckled in lifting your posterior off the seat shouldn’t do anything.

I hate using Android Auto because it is so damned glitchy....but it might be my phone 📱.... regardless I have disabled it and life is good.

For those that have overall enjoyed owning their ID.4s, is there anything that you'd consider a stand out complaint to your car? Is it something small or is it a big deal you wished was taken care of? This can extend to the ID.3 as well for any European members.
"The runaround." From day one I have not been able to log in as primary user. It has been a year and I am still "guest." No over the air updates, etc. My car simply cannot/will not connect to the ID server. The local Service Manager told me to contact the software specialists. I got their number and was assured the problem was known and had been given "the highest priority." The second time I asked how long to expect? Would "not long" mean a week, month, a year? The person laughed out loud at the idea of a year. Well.... it has been a f****ing year. I don't like t-Mobile, it is third rate in my area and every area I have driven in. I had one forum member state he was given the option to switch to a Verizon on-board sim. Not I. I don't understand why no one at vw of a gives a shit about me. I bought their $50k experiment (thank you federal and NY tax credit for making it a $40k experiment). Why aren't they crawling all over me to find out if it's any good? I get Service people saying the software is setup by the sales team. I get the sales team telling me to tell such and such to the service team in their own building. I have had a diesel SportWagen, an e-Golf, and I also own an Atlas. I am chopped liver. No one cares.

So the back corner guest bedroom?
Something like… we keep ours in the kitchen. But if you hold it in your hand and look at the blinking red light after locking the car, make sure you’re far enough away that it stops blinking!

It would be nice to lock the doors in the app. Also, if the car can recognize you coming towards the car and unlock the doors then why can't it lock the doors when walking away?
Oh, absolutely. And the app needs to reflect whether or not they're actually locked because I'm not sure it's accurate. Mine tells me it's "locked or unlocked" quite bit and it can't be both.

I'm guessing it doesn't lock while walking away because the key may not always be in your pocket. I know that it could tell whether or not they're in the car, but there are probably some variables we haven't thought about.

Accidentally turning on the overhead light or calling support when I'm folding up my sunshade.

I have a 2021 ID.4 Pro S and wish the back seat passenger air vents had better placement. I have a toddler in a car seat and they're always complaining about how hot it is back there. They're face turns red and I constantly have to check on them. The hot temperature makes it a not so pleasant ride for back seat passengers.

To those who think the butt sensor is a necessary "safety feature," I say BS.

I got out of my Bolt 100's of times w/the car still "running" and do the same w/my 4 ICE vehicles w/o any problem because I only do that when I've shifted in "park"

Tried buckling the seat belt behind me but the car still shuts down when I get out of the car.

Anyone know how to disable the butt sensor? Is it just a matter of disconnecting something or does it have to be coded out?

I can "live with it" but I consider it a PITA and would like to be rid of it.

#1 - "Intuitive" off switch. I find this really annoying because it turns the car off if I shift in the seat to mail a letter or insert my credit card at a parking garage. It also doesn't let me keep the car on so that my wife doesn't roast or freeze while I start up a charge or duck inside a store. i shouldn't have to leave my key in the car or plug in a seat belt extender. There is an on/off button, but it's overridden by the intuitive switch, so it's useless. What is so hard about using the on/off button - at least as an option.

#2 - Climate Control. Unnecessarily complicated and obtuse. Where is the heater button? Is the A/C button also a heater button? I never know if I'm heating or cooling the car - important to know in any EV. Climate control was solved in ICE cars long ago. What's wrong with the simple climate control below:
1.) Heater on/off
2.) A/C on/off
3.) Fan speed
4.) Air recirculate/open vent
5.) Thermostat

#3 - Maneuver Braking - It will slam on the brakes every time you try to back up if you have bikes on back. You must disable it EVERY time you restart the car.

#4 - Auto Hold working in reverse gear. Auto Hold should ONLY work in forward gear. It should NEVER be on in reverse gear - you should be riding the brake and not have to switch back to the accelerator if you stop, especially in a tight backing situation.

#5 - Easy exit seats - Sometimes, these work, sometimes they do random things like moving forward or causing the seat back to totally recline. At least half the time, they do not return to the last position and I have to push my memory button to get into the right place.

#6 - Resets to defaults anytime the navigation system gets an update. This is especially annoying when the proximity alarms start going off at a LOUD volume when I'm trying to back out of my garage. I also don't like it resetting to Comfort when I want Eco and it takes me a while to notice the reduced efficiency.

#7 - The popup asking you to identify the user every time you restart the car. Aside from being an extra and unnecessary button push that you need to do to clear the screen, sometimes it comes on late after you've started driving and it seems to stop some functions from working properly since you did not answer it before driving.

#8 - Frequent requirement to reconnect to car net when inside the car. This happens at the most annoying time when I'm trying to get going somewhere in a hurry and instead have to stop the car someplace where I have signal and go through the whole process.

#9 - Bar graph showing whether you are using energy or regenerating it. The Chevy Bolt has a display telling you exactly how many kW you are burning or regenerating. This is very useful for hypermiling.

#10 - No readout on individual tire pressure, just an OK/not OK, when can be fooled if you reset at the wrong time. My Bolt gives me a tire pressure reading on each tire with the push of one button.

#11 - Different size tires between front and back. How are you going to properly rotate the tires when they are different sizes? The best you can do is swap front for front and rear for rear.

#12 - Cheapo fixed-size cup holders in the fold-down arm rest for rear passengers. One of the two holes is too small for any cup I have. Did they really save that much over having an adjusting cut size holder as in the front console?

All of these are mostly easy software fixes (except #9 - 12). If VW would update the software to fix these things - or at least allow me to disable them until I decide otherwise - my VW experience would be a lot better. These were all unforced errors - they didn't HAVE to make it that way.

I really wish VW hadn't cut out the synthesized overhead view, the front camera, towing eye hook and the folding mirrors and had actually had a VTL option that was promised in 2022+ models.

For #1, it only shuts off if you remove your seatbelt… as long as your seatbelt is on you can do whatever you want… and you can absolutely leave the climate on for your wife … just tap “Immediate Climate Control” which pops on the goodbye screen when you remove your seatbelt.

Location of the charge port. I don’t like it hanging open on the side where it could get snagged by passersby. Front and center like the LEAF seems like the best place to me
Cars should be backed into parking spaces... Transportation studies have proven its safer but people are resistant. If everyone back in as they should, makes sense that charge port in rear or side rear...

If you keep it out of range, it should last a few years. I guess it also depends on how often you drive the car, but both my VW’s the keys last about two years.
My house is approximately 40 by 40 feet. The charger is mounted approximately 10 feet from the right edge. Just how the frick am I supposed supposed to keep it the 30 feet from the car that was previously suggested? Keep it in the laundry room by the dryer? Under the electrical panel in the guest room situated by the other back corner? The fob simply should have an off switch.
