Hi everyone, I’ve owned a 2025 id4 match pro 4motion (uk car) for nearly 4 months and just about to hit 5000 miles. I collected the car with 100% charge and charged once to 100% myself, charging schedule is now 40/50% to 80% every couple days. Right now it shows 71% with a gom range of 191 miles My question is when would be a good time to do a deep cycle of the battery and how often, many thanks.

I never performed one on my 2022, in 50,000 miles. Lowest I had the SOC was around 18%, by mistake. Had it up to 100% a few times due to buggy software. What's the point?

In my view the only reason to "deep cycle" the system is to calibrate the GOM. It doesn't do anything positive for the battery pack. The GOM is a "guide" to be used with a grain of salt. Over time you will figure out what you need to know about the capabilities of the vehicle. If it can't do what you want, get a different vehicle that can.

Deep cycle does not calibrate the GOM, since the GOM does not account for degradation or MEC (=SoH). It does recalibrate the BMS, so you can gain 12-15 miles of actual range (with no GOM change.) There is no need to ever do it, but I will do it before a road trip to gain a little range I may need. The MEC can get increased a good amount by a deep cycle re-calibration. That is not "releasing" anything, just computing a better guess at what the battery SoH is, and where 0% and 100% are located.

Get the free car scanner app and then you can see if your MEC was helped by doing a deep cycle, as many of us have noted in this thread:

I was on a road trip a couple of weeks ago and arrived for my first charge of the trip after 90 miles at 70 mph. Ambient temp was mid 70's F. My arrival SOC was 4% and I was in no hurry, so I charged to 100% before continuing the trip. I haven't done this is literally years and my Max Energy Content increased 150 Wh. Not much of a difference, but I wasn't in a hurry to continue the trip so why not. Max charge rate was 148 kW for this session. LG battery, 78,000 miles on the clock.
