I'm not questioning whether or not it was installed to code, but just want to caution that for EV chargers, you need a heavy-duty receptacle, preferably Hubbell 9450A, to avoid overheating and melting of the plastic. Hubbell has an excellent wire clamp, and the material is bakelite. There are plenty of threads on the forum showing what happens with cheap receptacles. Whether the receptacle is 14-50 or 6-50, spend the extra money to avoid grief later on.
Unfortunately, having a UL or CSA rating on the receptacle doesn't guarantee its suitability for high current continuous duty.
