Hi guys, On my Birthday today I finally had my Emporia level 2 charger installed. Now I just need to bring my car home! 🥳💪🏻

I'm not questioning whether or not it was installed to code, but just want to caution that for EV chargers, you need a heavy-duty receptacle, preferably Hubbell 9450A, to avoid overheating and melting of the plastic. Hubbell has an excellent wire clamp, and the material is bakelite. There are plenty of threads on the forum showing what happens with cheap receptacles. Whether the receptacle is 14-50 or 6-50, spend the extra money to avoid grief later on.
Unfortunately, having a UL or CSA rating on the receptacle doesn't guarantee its suitability for high current continuous duty.

I bought one too. I wish I could have bought it when it was 100 bucks less. I get it, the price of copper is stupid right now! Still think its a good value for a UL listed device. Now I just have to get an electrician out to install it (wife wont let me diy it)! I'll be going hardwiring with mine too.

just got mine installed. charging now at 11.5 kwh!
my electrician didn't care for some of design decisions when compared to other units he has installed. I have a recommendation or two for the app. over all, seems like a great unit, and the price is right!
