If it's a US car you won't have a heat pump as it was never offered in the US.

My ID.4 has been serving me well for 15 months (today!) with no A/C issues and I leave my Clima in Auto so there are times it runs even in Winter to reduce cabin humidity (it's good to run A/C in Winter periodically just to keep things lubricated btw).

I would also reference @edid4 recent travelogue where he cites excellent extended A/C output in very hot desert environment. So no, I wouldn't say there's a known issue.

However any mechanical system can develop a problem. It could very well be a leaking refrigerant hose. Don't buy a DIY kit as those often add more refrigerant than they should as they don't meter the low pressure side. Only a Pro shop has the gear to properly balance the system.

Or it could be an electrical issue keeping the compressor from engaging, etc. You could check for a blown fuse. But be reminded that replacing such is not really a solution as there was probably a valid systemic reason for a blown fuse in the first place.

Do take it to your dealership for in-warranty resolution.

ref: I started my long trip
my advice too. during the last recall they checked my 2021's A/C which i never that it did not work well and they fixed it. still in warranty (4 years)

My 2023 Pro S AWD had an AC issue… blowing warm air, and the dealership determined it was a leak due to a bad valve. They kept my ID.4 for two weeks bc all their EV techs were either out sick or in training, LOL. But then they magically realized working on the AC didn’t require an EV-trained tech, so they fixed it the next day (after 1.5 weeks of waiting).

Lo and behold, later that day they told me they messed up the repair and the AC is blowing warm air again. Finally, the next day (exactly 2 weeks after I dropped it off) they told me the tech replacing the valve didn’t install the seal properly. So they fixed that, and I got my ID.4 back 4 days ago.

So I heard a hissing sound coming from the vents this morning when running the AC… turn AC off and the hissing stops. And air when AC is on is no longer cold. Haven’t driven my ID.4 in a couple days, and the AC air was very cold last time I drove it. Back to the dealership it goes 👎

we owned an MY21 ProRWD and had the same issue. 2021 was early in the model year(s) and the techs struggled with it for 2 weeks. They went as far as dropping the battery pack to fix whatever they had to do to fix the AC issue. I had my suspicions as to the extent of the issues (other than AC that is). Did get a loaner tho so that was cool.
When they do get it fixed, pls make sure to do a deep breath-in and breath-out test to make sure the air doesn't stink. That happened with our "fix" and had to get them to do a deodorization. good luck!

My 2023 Pro S AWD has been in the shop 4 times to get the A/C fixed in the 19 months that I've owned. It has spent over 4 weeks total waiting for parts and work to be done at the dealership. Last week's visit was yet again another pressure switch leak needing to be replaced to fix it. Good luck with your A/C issues. I know here in Florida, A/C is a must have with all of the heat most of the year.

That is disheartening to say the least. Any insight from them on why things keep failing? I really like my ID.4, but stuff like this makes me want to eat the depreciation and find another EV before I have to go through another hassle like this again. Just not worth my time… though I’d really prefer to hold onto this at least until just before the warranty expires (another 2.5 years).

Got my ID.4 back about 5 days ago. That same evaporator seal that they improperly replaced previously had failed. They assure me that they closely inspected the new seal to make sure it was installed properly, and it shouldn’t be an issue anymore.

5 days and no issues so far, so we made it past the point when the last repair failed. Fingers crossed that this is the end of it.

Funny thing is that I went from just wanting to get rid of my ID.4 during the last 3 weeks and shopping leases for EV9s and Ariyas (there are amazing deals available)… to getting the ID.4 back and hoping nothing else goes wrong so I can just enjoy it and not have to deal with potential quirks and downsides of other EVs, LOL.

Similar story for me. I had the AC "fixed" the end of the first summer I had it. Then by the time it got hot the following summer, it wasn't working well. They ended up replacing the condensor. Now, the third year, I still have problems. So far this year one appointment to see the problem, a second appointment to unsuccefully find the leak and I have a third appointment next week.

I have a 2021 VW ID.4 Pro with a failure on AC (B10BE31 Fresh air blower, front, no signal Active /static ).
The air that comes out of the vents is not cold.
I am waiting for this part for almost a month.
The car has less than a year and is still under warranty!

Having been produced as long as it has, there is no excuse for waiting this long for parts! Sadly, this is too common with the ID.4.
