I had to use one of those auto trim removal plastic tools. I sort of slit it underneath and let it slide so the rubber would go over the pedal. It was a bit difficult but maybe greasing it a bit would help.
Don't use grease. I haven't it done it with the ID.4 but have changed on other cars. You can use a hairdryer or heat gun to soften the rubber which makes it easier to get off & on; once it cools down, the rubber hardens again.

Thanks D287! That diagram was helpful as I installed new play/pause pedals on my Pro/S today. The brake pedal is super easy. Just pull off the old one and put on the new one. The accelerator was more difficult as it requires sliding the 'play' cover over the existing pedal. I could not get it to do this without unscrewing the screw in that diagram and pulling the lever up a few inches. No need to disconnect the wiring connector. The whole process took about 3 minutes.

Also, I forgot to mention in my post that I just bought these pedals from VW Parts Vortex. They were (and still are) discounted by 39% from list price. Both pedals, with tax & shipping, was $66. It's not free, but its a lot better than $100 or more. And yes, I can verify that these are VW OEM parts. Here's the price breakdown from VW Parts Vortex:

Part NumberPart NamePriceQuantityTotal

10A-723-131Cap$35.991$35.99

Estimated Shipping to 27707 via Standard Shipping: $7.43
Total: $65.99

That's in the range of "I know I don't need it, but I might just buy it anyway" pricing. Thanks for the tip!

I just installed them today. Amateur tip: I soaked them both in hot tap water to soften up the hard rubber edging that needs to wrap around the gas pedal, and that seemed to make it conform easier.

Hi there,
Would you mind posting a photo of the pedal caps you've installed?

I'm in Canada and interested in getting these Play/Pause pedal caps for my ID.4 Pro S AWD.
We never had the First Edition here in Canada, so I don't think any dealers are stocking the OEM parts.

I just wanted to confirm those 2 part numbers you listed above are indeed the parts for the Play & Pause pedal caps. When I enter those into the Parts Vortex site, there aren't any product images displayed, and the products are just listed as "Pad" and "Cap".
So before I go ahead and pay shipping and duties on them (and probably have expensive shipping if I need to return them) just wanted to confirm,

Thanks for your help!

The product pages I'm referring to are:

great suggestions I got a pot of hot water and put the peddles in there and they went on so easy
