I just got a new update today (android) which shows the following screen:
Image

I don't like the last parked location on the main screen (the Major update) since I know where I park it and have had no problem remembering :) I hope it doesn't slow the app down.
Maybe the bug fixes will be good, the app has gotten much more reliable at doing remote commands starting a few updates ago.
I like the new app now shows charging stations if you hit the lightning bolt button, and allows sending them to the car for navigation. Now they need to add a filter to show only DCFC stations, since most places there are way too many L2 that look just the same and clutter the map.
I also like the new options for satellite and hybrid views.

Huh, I find it interesting that they are prominently using Google to display this map. Seems like VW has been going out of their way to use everybody BUT Google maps. Even my former Audi which initially featured a beautiful Google Earth-like map display with the Google logo featured prominently transitioned away to a map from HERE.

Same and especially so since VW is one of the owners of Here. LOL

I do like that you can finally see your car location though vs your person location. While our car has been in the dealer getting the 3.1 software update I have also noticed that the car changes now in the graphic and shows when the door, windows, hood, and rear hatch are open.

I got no update and see no update available in the app store. I seem to have 2023.11.3-2.

Nevermind. Though there was no myVW update among the flagged updates, when I navigate in the app store to the actual myVW app, the update was available.

The only time I'm unsure of my car's location is when I'm in a multi-level garage and can't remember which floor. The map isn't going to help with that.

The update I would like is that the charging notification should say Charging session started at 9:51 pm with your vehicle at 42%. That info is already flowing to the app, so why not index it in the notifications? This would allow more effortless monitoring of charging rates.

Last parked is ... meh ... it's easy enough to click over to the Nav screen to see where the car is. How about actually showing the correct estimated miles after I have charged? Currently shows 108 est mi at 80% but I know the car will show more like 180.

I almost posted that the issue of the app showing the range after a charge to 80% was 60 percent off was fixed... we charged yesterday afternoon before a drive and it showed the GOM range. Wow they fixed it! I thought. . After recharging last night back from that 100 mile drive its back to its old reading this morning...whatever the app says after a charge to 80 percent, have to multiply by 1.67

[edit:just made the discovery that the low app estimated range at 80% charge occurs while the cable is still plugged in. After unplugging it and rechecking the app, the range immediate change from 131 to 221 miles]

I find the last parked feature useful.. spouse uses the car too , I travel for work alot too, sometimes the car gets left at an airport, so it's useful to check up on it.

The charging station located is fine but apps like plugshare are better, easier to see what kind of charger is there, if it's available and what the crowd sourced report says about it.

I live in Central Florida, we go to theme parks and other large venues somewhat regularly. Nice in situations like those to have a marker for the car. Apple has done it in Maps for quite some time. Not sure I'll use the VW app over it but who knows. Also nice if you ever leave your car at a valet, etc. to keep an eye on things.

No in the early days the app showed where you were and no idea where the car was. And it did not work on my car until the dealer updated the in car software.

We argued about here a lot. Too many people were looking at their device while they were at home.

At this point the app seems to be working quite reasonably well. Especially handy in the winter with preconditioning needs. The only report-worthy updates now would involve addition of Auto lock and remote roof shade operation (ain't happenin')

I tried sending a decently thought out email to the contact address on Google Play for the app, hoping to give some constructive input with what they've done right and a few common bugs. Turns out the address posted there is an un-monitored do-not-reply address. Complete waste of time. They might as well make the address nope@dontcare.com 😒
