challenge with the matrix lights is that they recieved a major update in 2.3 while the US is still
On 2.1. I have no clue if they really functioned in 2.1 as I have only driven with 2.3.
additionally they are turned on based on input from the camera as well the the nav system (camera for other cars and light sources, nav to determine
If you are within city boundaries, to prevent high beams blasting into peoples houses)
We can code everything correct, but if some other data is missing, it might still never turn on

You are correct on camera firmware update and navigation system 2.1vs 2.3.

BTW: @Islander
I’m guessing that some of the settings under the light button module should allow you to work around your lights not being able to turn off for the ferry.

I haven’t tested it, and my German is a bit rusty but I think you can set:
LTM Beleuchtung Geschwindigkeits Swelle to 15KMH
(Speed at which the lights turn on?)
As well as Licht Reactivierings Grenze to 255m
(Distance after which the light is turned on?)

Both numbers mentioned seems the max value for those parameters. Not sure if that is enough.

Other option to possibly try might be to set the following to inactive: LTM BGL Geschwindigkeitsabhängig.
That should tell the system that the lights are not dependent on speed (I think!)
But again, my German is a bit rusty and it are guesses, so all at your own risk ofcourse!
Wow, this is incredible information! Thank you so much, very grateful here.

before starting to mess about:
Is the hardware is the same? And what software is there in the light modules? (E.g. D6)
this is mine:

Same on mine. I tried again today with the hood popped. We'll see if that makes a difference but I think there's a bit to be written in gateway or central electrics we haven't found yet.

Attachments

Everything is directly connected to the gateway. So imho it must be there somewhere. Some menu sub sections only show when I’m in the car connected to the dongle, so I’ll need to crawl into the car to be able to dig further. Will let you know if I spot something

There were autoscans posted on ross-tech forums from an owner in Finland and by Andy for USA.
It only had the long coding for A5, other relevant modules look like address D6 and D7 (L & R headlight modules), the gateway is 19, and central electronics is 09 which might have some relevant settings as well.

In Andy's post he also put the block and adaptation channel maps which have some measurements/data or configuration related to headlights (search for Component:LED1L or Component:LED1R).
For each module address A5, D6, D7, 19, and 09 search the page for adpmap-XX or blockmap-XX where XX is the module address.
Some of these may be relevant to enabling matrix. Unfortunately have not seen these channel maps dumped from a Euro Spec car.

Andy's Scan (USA Spec):

This is an id.4 forum so you'll likely not get much help here. I'd say your best bet is look in the history of the changes you've made (it's in odb11) and roll them back. Do not reset anything from odb11 whatever you do - it doesn't reset to stock, it just clears everything. Not at all what you want.

This product is super exciting. I'm not thrilled in the subscription model but that's what every company is doing these days to be able to provide ongoing support and product enhancements.

I am going to order the dongle off Amazon and just pay for the Pro license through the app. The app is impressive. I like that you can see the "One-Click Applications" specific to the ID.4 even without the dongle or an account.

Of the "One-Click Applications" currently available, I'm only really interested in the Central Lock with IGN. Having the key fob active when "ignition" is on is useful to piece together a poor man's Dog Mode by plugging in the driver's seat belt to keep the climate system active and lock the car as you leave. There is currently no way to lock the car from the outside when "ignition" is on.

There are a few manual mods already talked about that I am very interested in:
Remove Android Auto and CarPlay Limitations - Siri doesn't always work. I need to be able to type in a destination on Google Maps.
Close Windows with Fob - My MKV GTI had this ability and it was very handy when a random thunderstorm came through to be able to close the windows from inside.\
Easy Entry - I had a rental that did this recently and it was very convenient.

Things I would like to see and may explore myself:
Auto Close Windows with Rain - This was an old Audi feature that could be enabled if the car had rain sensing wipers. Not sure if this would be possible considering the sensor may not even be powered up when the car is parked.
Pedestrian Warning - I understand the controversy but I would like the option to tweak the volume. It may be a waste of time since dg4prez was unable to find any relevant settings in the coding.
Massage Seats Timer - The massaging seats are awesome but don't operate for very long before shutting off. I'd love to be able to increase the auto-shutoff time on those.

forget about the pedestrian warning. seems the volume is hardcoded, or at least unavailble via OBDeleven.
Have seen some hints for options on the autoclose on rain, but haven't tried it. might indeed be that the sensors needed for that aren't powered up after exiting the car.
seat timer -> can't say much on that, as i don't have a powered seat module

I tried to get auto close from rain working on my Golf, never got it … I think they may block auto close in the US region due to lawsuit risk.

Wondering with the new SFD unlock with OBD11 can we turn down the honk sound when the doors are locked with the key fob?
I see some options in the gateway adaptations
E.g.:
Image

(above says that the duration of the honk is now normal instead of short)

other options imply that you might be able to choose a tone via the HMI:

Code:
            ZV Quittierungen
                Quittungs blinken bei verriegeln
                    Decelerate
Quittierton beim zweiten ZV AUF Befehl
                    not active
Quittierton beim zweiten ZV ZU Befehl
                    not active
                Komfort quittung
                    active
                Quittungston ueber hupe
                    not active
                Akustische Quittierungsdauer Einfachhorn
                    normal
                Quittierton global
                    not active
                Quittungston hmi einstellbar
                    not active
                Quittierungston bei entriegeln
                    not active
                Quittungs ton bei verriegeln
                    not active
It's interesting as my version doesn't have the tone over the normal horn active, and doesn't have it set to HMI configurable, while the US version does have that.
@dg4prez Could be interesting to tweak this a bit? see if it can be made a bit more humble? also wondering what you can set in the infotainment around the Horn, that i can't

i have mine disabled in menu because i hate it so much. been trying to disable panic button as well but no success just yet. there's an option, but nothing changed when i set it to disable.

@dg4prez and others actively providing valuable info here - thank you so much for doing that!
I'll def start modding soon - the first mod being the lane assist off at start-up!
