So I got the 2 IC fronts installed today (still waiting on delivery of the IS system for tweeter and the rear) as I'm planning to do what @dg4prez updated to.

Here is my experience: I consider myself pretty handy but this was the first time I've taken off panels in a car. The armrest portion was the most difficult by far. On the first door I broke 4 clips and the thin strip that runs along the bottom. The main panel came off easily but my dealer did not have any clips so I used some I ordered on Amazon but they turned out to be a little too long, leaving a gap. I ordered some others while still waiting on dealer order and those should be a little shorter, we'll see how that goes when they get here (hopefully Sunday as I have 2 naked doors).

The second door was much easier since I now had a little experience and only one clip broke. The key for me was making sure to have the armrest panel pulled out enough beginning where @pro describes in his instructions (my first one I was too timid with it). After that, the rest came off pretty easy (I went along the bottom).

As another poster stated, I had trouble getting the rivets in straight as well as there isn't enough room with my rivet tool and I had a couple that didn't break where they should have, leaving some of the stem attached. The speakers seem to me to still be locked in solid but we'll see how it is after some miles and bumpy roads.

Verdict on speakers: As others have stated, I didn't realize how bad the factory ones where, even with just the 2 fronts done the difference is pretty large. Thoroughly impressed with these little guys even with just a few minute sample (not an audiophile but run a pretty decent KEF LS50 + HSU sub system in our little home theater). Can't wait to hear what the full replacement sounds like.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge on this, it has been really helpful.

I saw that today too - not bad - would love to see all the part numbers included the cables needed here - googling all day already for it but no luck. I got a couple of items from the video but not everything.
I'm fairly sure that's the speaker package that is just around the corner on the European cars (probably in the US as well), apparently some countries (Denmark confirmed) will be getting that on GTX vehicles, and Sweden has it as an upcoming option, no date for it yet tho.

This seems very expensive. Moreso than the focal upgrade even if you add the focal amp and sub. Could be wrong though, love to know more.
It is recommended that you compare with the same type. And according to your needs, you can choose cheap products.
There are many cheap solutions. We only provide ID owners with a cost-effective upgrade solution for the original factory Harman kardon.

I would put the focal up against the h/k system any day.

So let's say someone puts the ICs in the front and ISs in the rear then later on decides to get the Impulse 4.320 and the ISUB Twins. Would they have to switch the speakers back to "regular" positions or would it even affect the sound that much? Assuming using 1/2 for all 4 door speakers and 3/4 for the Twins, would the ISs in the rear get muddy?

If you're using the 4.320 for both the speakers and subs, then you'll be using the front channel for both front and rear. which means yeah, you'd probably want to swap them because you won't be using those extra spicy rear channels anymore, or have fader ability.

So I was contemplating adding a little sub under one of the seats but I went to check it out today and there's no room under there lol. With the crossbar and the vents I don't think anything will fit. Has anyone had any success with an underseat sub or have a good spot for one?

Isn't a sub unidirectional (I don't really know). Maybe it could be mounted where the frunk would be? This might be totally ridiculous 🙄. Maybe as stupid as it sounds 🤣😂🤣.
