Why is there an "ok" button on the steering wheel?

I have a '21 id.4 and I love it. I really do. It's my first ev and while I wish it had a little more get-up-and-go, I am quite content with it's performance. Also, while I completely understand the frustrations that people have with the software and long delayed ota's, my issue(s) is with some of the hardware.

I don't think I have ever pressed the ok button that's on the steering wheel. EVER. Does it actually serve a purpose? Real question. I keep wanting to press it for play/pause since that is where all of the other media controls are, but for some reason that function is reserved for the power button which: 1. I didn't know about until I had my car for like a year 2. It's still not that convenient and 3. I also forget about it.

I also hate that I can't see the volume or ac controls at night and am always pressing the wrong one, but that's a story for a different rant.

It’s annoying for sure, but alternatives are a) to use the steering wheel volume controls (you can swipe without actually pressing buttons), and b) tap the lighted climate indicators (seat icons) in the lower left corner of the screen for quick access to the climate control screen. Not as handy, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

Some people have also used small glow in the dark stickers or paint and made very small marks on either end of the sliders to help with locating them. I don't personally have any issues with it, but I understand those that do for sure.

As to the OK button, the only thing I can figure out is they added it for some other use that never happened in the ID.4. Since it's a shared part I believe, seems like they just left it there.

I think once we have the trip available in the binnacle the OK will be used to toggle between the 3 readings (since charge, since start, long term) and/or reset the trip. Maybe someone with 3.1 can confirm the OK is used for functions related to the trip computer in the binnacle.
