For future reference - folks can just click "Follow" in the top right without the need for a post...

Seem to recall reading somewhere (maybe here) that VW stated they had fixed the issue in a later software revision that was delivered to new cars at the factory after a certain production date.
VW says they fixed it in CW24, 2023. That is mid year, but I don't know what date CW24 equals.
Maybe if we are lucky we will get this fix just <2 years since it was put in newly produced cars.

A Reddit post that both confirms the fix and references back to this very post... see if I can break the internet with a message board loop..... (joking).

I took my 2021 Pro S AWD to the dealer this morning to repair, under warranty, the distorted light pattern that projects downward from the outside mirrors. It is a quick repair.

I asked the dealer’s service manager about this software update. They have it but have not installed it on any ID4s. The service manager said they plan to install it on a few ID4s they have in stock before trying it on a customer’s car. Quote: “We don’t want to brick your car and want to see how the install goes on our in stock cars first.” Good advice and I told him thanks as I don’t want to be the first beta tester.

My app is now showing repairs available for both 919A and the door handle recall. Mine is due for 2 year service in a couple of weeks so hopefully they can do both recalls at the same time while it is in.

I see the same. The app lists both now as ‘Repair Needed’. It does not mention anything about if the software will be available OTA as the OP posting showed. At least not yet.

Yes, I see that for both of the 2024 recalls - I also see the 2023 door handle recall has disappeared from the app, presumably since the new one (57J9) supersedes it. We will take it in for the door handles in January.

I see the "schedule service" for the door handles as well. Does the wording leave open the possibility that all they have to do is " inspect" "if the recall condition is present" as "affected vehicles may have been built".. and owners may notice if the condition is present "occupants may notice a clicking sound". No click, part looks good, no work needs to be done?

The software update also shows as available to be scheduled, but not OTA.

The OTA won’t be available until January - for now, it’s dealer only for the screen fix. And we won’t know what the door handle fix involves until someone posts the instructions :)

My first time, the service was 1/2 day – all 4 handles replaced plus the software update. I imagine this time it's rinse and repeat, plus the added benefit that most techs will have already done this a bunch so the experience factor it dialed up to High.

Just a heads up if you’re scheduling a recall fix online, you may want to contact the dealer to make sure they can actually do it.

Yesterday, I used my dealer’s website to schedule my 20k service for today, and was given the option online to add the door handle recall fix, and also the SW update recall fix. I nervously checked the boxes for the recalls to avoid needing to go get service twice. When I got to the dealer this morning, they said they “didn’t have parts” for either recall fix. Sad I’ll have to go back but happy I’m not the guinea pig!

No parts for a software update?
