Anybody have an idea if we should expect a big increase in insurance costs for the ID.4? Just not sure what to expect...
I priced both and they were very similar.I'm likely sticking with the ID.4 over a Tesla simply due to insurance... I'm hoping the ID.4 will be cheaper than a Tesla.
If thats the case its really going to be hard to justify this car over a Tesla (for me).I priced both and they were very similar.
I agree! Which is why I canceled my ID.4 and did more research. I was not nuts over Tesla prior to investigating. Losing the $7500 tax credit is tough, but I think they will be the EV leader for at least another 3-5 years. If thats the case its really going to be hard to justify this car over a Tesla (for me).
I was quoted a little less than $800 a year for a 2021 MY and $750 for ID.So I called Geico (which is always the cheapest for me) and they did a ballpark comparison with a Model 3. Basically in my situation the difference per month is $100.00 +/-
The Tesla is more and the ID.4 is "estimated" to be less. But overall with the ID.4 my monthly payment will go up approx $40.00
Yea I should have been more clear, my 6mo premium for the Tesla would go up $379.00 the same 6mo premium and coverage for the ID.4 would be an extra $279.00... Seems like any gas savings is a moot point, I'll be losing the difference in electricity and insurance.I was quoted a little less than $800 a year for a 2021 MY and $750 for ID.
Are those numbers over and above what they would be for a new Tiguan or similar? Is that a pure increase just due to them being EV's?Yea I should have been more clear, my 6mo premium for the Tesla would go up $379.00 the same 6mo premium and coverage for the ID.4 would be an extra $279.00... I got quotes for insurance with State Farm in the Seattle area yesterday. They want $87/month for the ID.4 and $98/month for a Model Y (with a $2000 deductible).I'm likely sticking with the ID.4 over a Tesla simply due to insurance... I'm hoping the ID.4 will be cheaper than a Tesla.
Mine is strictly for adding a 3rd vehicle. Not replacing one.Are those numbers over and above what they would be for a new Tiguan or similar? Is that a pure increase just due to them being EV's?
That VIN worked for my insurance agent. I've got a real quote now at $50 higher per 6 months than my 2008 Honda Fit costs to insure in San Diego, CA.WVGDMPE25MK000123
Progressive gave me a rate $60 cheaper than my Mazda3 for the same coverage. Currently paying $700/6 months for a 2016 Mazda3 and a 2016 Mazda MX-5. Nice that it will go down a bit. In St Pete, Florida.I'm likely sticking with the ID.4 over a Tesla simply due to insurance... I'm hoping the ID.4 will be cheaper than a Tesla.
Progressive gave me a much better quote than Geico, phew. I almost panicked for a second.Progressive gave me a rate $60 cheaper than my Mazda3 for the same coverage. Currently paying $700/6 months for a 2016 Mazda3 and a 2016 Mazda MX-5. Nice that it will go down a bit. In St Pete, Florida.
High voltage battery? 😜Does anyone put anything when asked for an anti-theft device?
I have a VIN for mine, which I would be willing to send you in a private message if you want. From Progressive got the following quotes for 6 months:
Tesla MY RWD w/Vin: $528
VW FE ID4 no VIN estimate: $363
Looks like VW will for sure be cheaper insurance wise. Could even be lower once we actually have a VIN.
