I just got a full line quote from Amica. They are at least double what I’m paying via Allstate. They had no idea what an ID.4 is, so I don’t know what they were basing the quote on.

My $400 / 6 months quote held up with Allstate. I was paying more than that for each of my older cars. I’m assuming that the new safety tech is justifying discounts.
I had Allstate before I got the ID.4, my Allstate agent quoted $989/6mo. Told him he was crazy and dropped them.

I'm in a crazy expensive market - Hollywood - but to make y'all feel better, I'm paying 190/mo for a top shelf policy from geico for a base pro model with no points on my license and no insurance claims since 2008. Tried state farm, progressive, and mercury and they were a lot higher for similar coverage.

Even our 2006 camry is $100/mo here. Where I'm from in rural NH, I recall my 2001 TDI was $600 per year!

Anyone else in SoCal want to share? I'm really curious what Tesla MYis in my market too

I cannot claim Pittsburghese for me, since I moved here 8 years back, n’at.

Are you from the area as well?

To everybody else, sorry for taking over this thread. I am just so excited to have some others from Pittsburgh here.
Another Pittsburgh (east suburbs) resident. Got my ID.4 through Sendel in Greensburg. I got a crazy quote for insurance from current agent. Trying to figure out what is reasonable.

Don't forget though to look at your insurance bill in total as well. I have both my car and home with Amica, and while Florida has notoriously high rates (I'm at about $2k a year for 250/500/100, non-stacked, which was similar in South Carolina previous to central Florida), I save a LOT on my home insurance through them over any other place I've been when combined.

I double-check my rates about once a year, and they don't change much for companies I'd do business with. GEICO for instance, I just checked last night after looking at this thread, can 'save me' $100 a year or so on my car insurance from their website. But I'd have to re-rate my home, lose my multi-policy discount, figure out what to do with an umbrella policy, etc. So make sure you are considering your ENTIRE insurance requirement and outlay and not sub-optimizing just your car insurance. And remember that their websites are just quotes. They will pull your credit, look at Lexis Nexus, CLUE, and any other number of things before they give you the actual rate for your policy. Glass claims, for instance, in the past have counted against your insurance score, even if it was under the no-fault, no payment part of a policy. Credit ratings, which are widely opposed by consumer advocacy groups in insurance underwriting, are widely used as well.

I use Consumer Reports ratings as well as my own personal experience with multiple insurance companies from living in multiple states over the years to now decide the 'best value' vs the 'cheapest cost'. My experience with the cheapest cost insurance has always been bad in the end. I personally will never, ever, ever, do business again with Progressive, State Farm, or Liberty Mutual. Lawsuits have driven a lot of the shenanigans over using non-OEM/manufacturer parts, insurer only approved body shops, etc., out of the system, but every one of them has had abysmal service. Out of 47 ranked insurance companies, CR ranked Geico 29th, Progressive 37th, and Liberty Mutual dead last.

2 years ago when my wife had a fender bender in our Audi Q5, I talked with Amica for maybe 20 minutes, they sent me a link to an app that I used to take pictures and file a claim, asked the Audi dealer where to take it to get certified repairs, and dropped off the car. I never once had to bother with anything else. They made the rental car appointment, dealt directly with the body shop, and I never got a peep back from the insurance company or the body shop about any issues.

It's not a question of if you will have an accident, but when you will be involved in one (your fault or not). Your time is worth a lot more than you think, so don't discount service on your policy.

Currently drive 2019 Leaf S insured with Geico in the Atlanta GA metro area. Based on recent quote, an ID.4 Pro would add about $140 per year to my multi-car insurance bill. By contrast, same policy for Tesla Model 3 RWD would add almost $1300. (FYI... I have an 18-year-old driver in the family, which might adversely affect my rates. :) )

Anybody have an idea if we should expect a big increase in insurance costs for the ID.4? Just not sure what to expect...
Here's my experience. I pay annually and my insurance just renewed. I have everything with the same company (American Family insurance). Overall, the insurance cost increased significantly for all parts, Home, Umbrella, Motorhome and 2 cars, one of them the ID.4. Home insurance went up 30%. Umbrella went up 26%. The ID.4 2023 went up 80% and the ICE car (Hyundai Kona 2024 standard ICE and over 10K less expensive) is even more expensive than the ID.4 and went up about the SAME percentage. There does not seem to be a significant difference in insurance cost between an ICE and an EV. In fact, since the ID.4 is more expensive than the Kona, it is actually cheaper than the ICE vehicle.

Key here is that the insurance cost for cars has risen dramatically on average around 75-80 percent and the ID.4 does not seem to be singled out. I also should mention that I don't subscribe to "monitored driving insurance discounts".

Insurance costs are location adjusted. I live in St. George, UT which is different from let's say LA.

This is a 4 year old thread though.... not sure why we revived it. LOL

Oct 22, 22 until an update a day ago? Get it, but the OP is probably WAAAAYYY gone by now. LOL

It's still an interesting topic?

Responding with your insurance cost without your location is pretty useless here though, but it can be helpful if that info is included.

I responded in Nov 2021 with Hollywood cost at $190 per month, it is now $230 with GEICO. Still no claims or at faults

I see multiple accidents per week before they are cleaned up on my 40 mile RT work commute, and reckless aggressive driving every day. There is almost no traffic enforcement here

In Florida, for what it's worth, car insurance prices are out of control. Our car insurance went up $600 a year, granted I carry pretty close to max limits.
