Anybody have an idea if we should expect a big increase in insurance costs for the ID.4? Just not sure what to expect...
I just did the quote myself. Goes up ~$23/month for me. I am betting that the delta is likely the car age both for my old car and your 2017 Outback.Yes, but not with a VIN yet. For a generic model-based quote, my price would go up ~$14 a month from what I pay now on a 2017 Outback.
I had the same issue doing the quote online with Geico (over $1000 for 6 months). I did a quote over the phone with them a month ago and they said $693 for 6 months. Once it comes closer to actually purchasing of the car I'll call them again and check.I did a quick check on GEICO on their website. I was shocked at $1,050 for six months. I'm paying less than $1,000 now for two relatively new vehicles with them now. I see others have said their GEICO check was not nearly as much, so I will have to investigate why my quote came in so high. No accidents/claims for several years from our household, so our rates should be fairly good, I would think. I did the quote by "adding" a new car to our current policy, so it should include our history and all discounts etc. If I can't find a better price for insurance on the ID.4, I absolutely will not be buying one.
We have State Farm as well, so hopefully my quote will be similar.FYI, I pulled a VIN number for an ID.4 First Edition at Smith VW in Wilmington, DE. I live in Middletown, DE and State Farm just quoted me $415.91 for 6 months. It would replace my 2013 Ford Fusion which I'm currently paying about $311 for 6 months. So my rate will increase by about $100 for 6 months. I have several discounts, including accident free, defensive driving, multi-car, multi-line, etc.
Mine is expected to go up about 15 a monthAnybody have an idea if we should expect a big increase in insurance costs for the ID.4? Just not sure what to expect...
I have Amica and they have usually been great and VERY competitive. They quoted $1800/year for the ID.4 which is WAY higher than my other vehicles. I do have a family member (on the policy) who was recently in an accident, so it may have some bearing on the cost, but my driving record is perfect.BTW, anyone have Amica insurance? Consumer Reports says they’re great.
The ID.4 has a ton of great safety tech built in compared to your old Honda, that may be at least part of the reason.I just signed up with Progressive. They gave me $278/6mo (in PA.) That included a bundling discount, which I'll actually lose, (I think it's just around 5%), since I found home insurance through Traveller's saved me more money than bundling did. I was paying $466/6mo for a 2008 Honda Fit. I'm still confused by how much cheaper my new policy is.

I don't want to mess with insurance while the accident situation is being sorted, but once it's done, I'll definitely switch if they keep the ridiculous rate. Their service and prices have historically been top-notch, but $1800 is insane.
They definitely should know, as I know at least one of their policies is written with one.I just got a full line quote from Amica. They are at least double what I’m paying via Allstate. They had no idea what an ID.4 is, so I don’t know what they were basing the quote on.
