I thought the sound deadening material is supposed to be applied to the metal. I'm getting my focal fronts rears and amp installed next week.

More Focal Inside here :) Upgraded fronts with Focal IS VW 165 first to assess the sound difference and RoI. The bass is deeper, and the trebles are cleaner. This is sounding great, considering integrated amplifier. Did assessment while one side was fully upgraded, other stock. Tried different genres and styles from Mozart to Sting, Pentatonix, Ed Sheeran and of course Top Gun. I'll update the back with the IC kit. Installation simple, did use the Focal rivets and applied a lot of sound deadening material. The door close sound has changed a bit with the sound deadening, it's noticeable. I'm still impressed by the quality of all the components and how well is the car made. Kudos for that VW.

b) Added sound deadening (silver) - both on the door and full coverage of the trim from inside.

And the final touch, make sure to wear your white gloves while applying these ;););)

...since I had the door open, there is one more tweak - coming shortly...

Awesome, let us know how it sounds!

As for the sound deadening, thank you for calling it out. I applied to what "vibrates" the most and closest to the ear per physics laws to reduce such vibration. It was installed on the interior trim per Focal instructional video as well. I'm open to learn other more effective approaches. (y)

Hey there!

So I spoke to my sound guy and he said it's ok to do it on the trim.

How difficult was it to remove the trim?

Can you show us a picture? I'm thinking of doing the same thing for my Audison passive subwoofer.

I've finally replaced the speakers and added a real sub to the car, I'm extremely pleased with the result. I went with the Focal Inside solution for the speakers, a Musway M4 +v3 DPS and a JL Audio ACS112LG-TW1 for the sub. I made a hole in the raised load floor so that the sub almost takes up no extra space at all.

Hello everyone
I really find VW 4since I got my ID.put the sound system under par in it, so I changed mine to higher grad speakers.
Please find the tutorial to do it yourself in the VW ID.4 audio system upgrade - useless tips
I hope it saves you a lot of great sound for your engines.
This link is not working, can you please send me a new link

Thanks for posting. I upgraded with the plug and play focal speakers and amp today. I got a professional install. But now my turn signals and seat belt reminder are super loud.

Should I return to the installer? I’ve read elsewhere that this happens when an amp is added to the stock head unit. 😬

Mmm louder speakers louder sounds? I’m not sure the installers can do anything about it but I could be wrong.

Yeah. I was afraid of that. 😁🤣
The only way to fix this is to reduce the gain on the amp. I had it at about 50% and then turned it back just a bit more. Hopefully your amp is not buried too far under the dash.
Ah okay. It’s behind the glove box.

Turns out the rear camera light and sound/warning sound isn’t working now either. I’m not sure why that was affected during the installation. I’m going back tomorrow to get it fixed. 😬
