Just noticed this on MyVW app for an OTA 3.8.11. Wonder how long it’ll take for this to install.
It says in the description that its an OTA. They seem to still not have their myVW app categories working right. Is this an OTA update though?
3.8.1 (EU)
Updated the integrated internet connection: To take into account the gradual shutdown of 2G/3G mobile networks from the end of 2025, the internet connection will be updated. This update is necessary in order to continue using the We Connect mobile online services. Without this update, there may be quality restrictions and possible functional failures. The availability of 2G/3G mobile networks is defined by the network operators of each country and may vary.
Important security updates: We have implemented important security updates to ensure the IT security of your vehicle. We strongly recommend that you perform this update.
Web radio and infotainment system: Optimizations have been made to improve the stability of the web radio and the infotainment system.
Air conditioning: Fixed a bug that could have caused the coolant filling level to be displayed incorrectly.
I’m more inclined to believe that VW didn’t bother when they’ve introduced the MEB platform to NA.Yes, but since 2021 owners reported they were successful and as a '21 owner myself on 3.5, I also have a 3.8 notification in my app.
We're not going to know until we know, but I look at it this way: VW has effectively given our cars chastity belts, like it or not. And it's been fine up until now with all the other networks. So now we're speculating that VW gave away the key to our chastity belt to, of all corporations, Tesla? On a whim? Without owner permission? Naw, not buying it.
To clarify a bit.
- 2024 ID.4s came with 4.x software, except for the non-Pro trims, which still came with the 3.5 software because they had 2023 hardware
Possibly the case.Earlier in the year when the ability to do OTA updates became available, you had to choose via the MyVW App if you wanted to install the recommended OTA update which in my case was 3.5.10 and 3.5.11. Once you chose to update, the MYVW App showed that you were in cue for the update to install. In my case the dealer did a service appointment update to 3.5 to satisfy one of the open recalls and as a result the OTA updates for 3.5.10 and 3.5.11 never occurred and the MYVW App still shows those two updates as still being requested.
With 3.8.11 OUE7 is shows as an active service campaign on the MYVW App but so far there is no way to request or accept the update to put your car in cue for the update to be done OTA. The wording as part of the Service Campaign states the "code being applied to vehicles that will be receiving an OTA update."
As a result of the above is it safe to assume the OTA update will happen automatically without having to request it via the MYVW App or will the App need yet another revision to request the 3.8.11 update in order to be placed in cue?
